Session Summary: We will become familiar with the function of the climate change wiki and how to edit it. We will look at memes in general and then climate change memes and investigate why they are effective.
What Are We Doing?: Because the wiki is such a key part of our climate change studies it is critical that students have a complete understanding of how to manipulate it. We will be looking at the basic wiki tools and then practice posting some pictures from the Internet. What pictures you ask? Memes are images or videos transmitted on the Internet that carry a cultural symbol or social idea. Some of them are funny, some are serious, but all good memes are designed to spread. As a class we will investigate some popular memes, look at some specific climate change memes and then actually begin the process to create 2 of our own, one using popular meme structures, and then an original meme.
